Flatwork
Wednesday's 9/10 - 12/10 (no class the week of Thanksgiving)
The class teaches basic skills using hand tools, fastening, gluing, sawing, and drilling safely in addition to project planning and layout. Projects include but are not limited tothings like cutting boards, checker/chess boards, small boxes, pencil holders. Flat work involves all types of woodworking that are not turning. Handheld power tools are also used (drills and sanders). Stationary power tool usage is limited to setting up the tool for operation by a mentor (drill press, table saw, miter saw, bandsaw).
Requirements: Student must meet all requirements to be enrolled in the Greenville Woodworkers Guild (GWG) Youth Woodworking Program and have been duly enrolled therein. All papers relating to injury, liability, safety and parental responsibility must have been duly executed. Safety: Eye protection is mandatory and must be brought to each class. Closed toes shoes are required. Ear protection is optional.
Class fee: $60
