Register for Classes

GUILD MEMBERS ONLY

To register for a session, click the right-hand column below. If you have a problem with that, send an email to Mentoring Chairman, Bill Keener, at wgkwood@aol.com, or call Bill at 864-967-9669.
 
Type your name and phone number in the email that is generated when you click on "click to register" below, and, in the case of multiple classes being offered, specify which classes you want. Sessions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. All classes are at the Guild Education Center unless otherwise specified. Since classes may overlap, please check day and time to insure that you don't sign-up for two classes that meet at the same time.

Register early to ensure your participation in the class.

Please remember that to participate in any Guild class your dues must be current; you must have a signed liability release form on file at the shop; and you should have reviewed the general safety rules and first aid guidelines at the shop.

Band Saw This is a beginners level band saw class. This class will cover the safe usage of all the bandsaws we have in the shop including the two 36" bandsaws we have for resawing boards.

Table Saw Training This class will cover the safe usage of both the Powermatic and Grizzly table saws at the shop. This class will cover the safe usage of both the table saws we have in the shop. The class will also cover of jigs, sleds, and other items related to the use of these saws.

Router Table This class will cover the safe usage of the router table and will address the setup of the router, bit selection of bits, use of router sled and other subjects. Tuesday

Jointer/Planer This class will cover the safe operation and use of the 25"Oliver planer, and the 16" Oliver jointer that we have in the shop. Learn how to take rough cut lumber and turn it into fine furniture material.   Thursday

Dovetail Jig This class will cover the set-up and usage of the Leigh dovetail jig that we have in the shop. This class will include the layout and preparation of drawer/box parts. We only have 3 openings in this class so sign up quickly Friday

Pen Turning This is a beginners level turning class in which you will learn to turn wooden pens using pen blanks. Mondays

Small Chest Learn the technique of building a chest ( toy, blanket, hope, ect). This class will cover design, wood selection, building techniques (post and panel), joinery and other skills needed to complete  the building of a chest.  This will be a evening class that will start on Thursday evening May 16  6 to 9 pm. The class will meet on two additional Thursday evenings and then you will meet with your mentor as needed to complete your chest. This class is limited to 6 students and we only have 3 openings in this class. Thursdays
